Our Mission

Welcome to The Little Tiny Tony’s Project. We are a 501 c-3 tax deductible, non-profit organization centered around Type 1 Diabetes. In 2014, our son, brother, grandson, and friend Tiny Tony was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. This diagnosis changed just about every aspect of our lives over the next 4 years. There was fear, worry, times of joy and sorrow, and every emotion in between. We spent days and weeks in urgent care and the emergency room. We had periods of time when everything seemed to go perfect with his diabetes and periods when nothing seemed to make sense. All in all this was a life changing disease for all of us, especially Tony.
In July of 2018 Tiny Tony started to complain about headaches. Over the course of the next couple months Tony was at the Urgent Care, Emergency room and Doctors office 10-12 different times. We were told he was dehydrated, that he was not taking care of his diabetes properly, DKA, that he had the flu, etc. Each visit a different diagnosis and each return home the headaches remained.
August 24th, 2018 was Tony’s final visit to urgent care where they transported him to Phoenix Children’s Hospital as they had done a few times prior. While waiting to see a doctor Tony had a seizure and was intubated. An MRI showed an infection in Tony’s brain and emergency surgery was required. Surgery seemed to go well until the swelling in his brain would not subside and ultimately 2 more surgeries that day were performed and a third of his skull removed. Tony spent the next 4 days at PCH under great care by his nurses and Doctors but would never recover. He was pronounced brain dead after multiple tests and now lives on through this charity and the lives of 4 organ recipients. Tiny Tony touched our lives so very deeply and we hope to be able to carry his legacy on for many years to come.
Our mission at LTTP is to service to those affected by Type 1 Diabetes. We know first hand how life changing and scary this disease can be, how it pops up out of nowhere. How every aspect of the newly diagnosed and their family’s life is affected. How scary and frustrating it can be at times but also how it can bring a family together. LTTP’s goal is to bring needed support, comfort, awareness and education to the Type 1 Community. We are always open to suggestions on how we can be of service and hope to touch as many lives as we can in honor of Little Tiny Tony.
